Farrington & Hunnewell 'Olive' Pattern Coin Silver Breakfast Knives – 12, c. 1861-64
Farrington & Hunnewell were famous silver manufacturers working in Boston from the 1830's to the 1880's. The 'Olive' pattern which appears on both sides of these flat, solid silver
handles is an early, elegant pattern of simple leaf ornamentation at the top, midsection and
base of the handle. The cartouche on one side in engraved with a gothic 'W' and the other side with a script 'From SG'.
This lovely coin silver knives are marked F&H and by the shop 'CROSBY, HUNNEWELL & MORSE'. Crosby, Hunnewell & Morse are listed in the Encyclopedia of American Silver
Manufacturers by Rainwater as operating from 1861-64. The knives measure just under 8 inches in length, weigh a total 18.65 troy ounces and are in very good antique condition.
