John Wendt 'Bird' Pattern Sterling Silver Ice Cream Spoons – 5, c. 1870's

John Wendt made some wonderful silver and his 'Bird' pattern is no exception. These lovely ice cream spoons have shallow, flat bowls with matte finishes and gilding. The exotic pattern is that of a bird among foliage reaching towards a cluster of berries. The backs of the handles are engraved 'WFC'.

These sterling ice cream spoons are marked on the back '925/ PATENT' and by the NY retailer 'STARR & MARCUS'. They measure just under 6 inches long, weigh a combined 3.80 troy ounces and are in exceptional condition.
