Bailey & Co Coin Silver Berry Scoop, c. 1855

This beautiful serving scoop by Bailey & Co from Philadelphia has a simple handle with a threaded border which turns into classical leaves at the top above a nicely engraved gothic 'B' monogram.  The bowl is nicely engraved with a central flower above a wonderful garland. A series of dotted lines decorate the perimeter of the bowl which is also beautifully gilded.

The back of the handle is stamped 'Bailey & Co' along with his coin standard 'U' mark which was used between 1852 until 1858.  This great piece measures 9 inches long, weighs 3.05 troy ounces and is in excellent condition (although the gilding is probably not original).
