William Gale & Son Sterling Fish Service, 1862-66
It is very uncommon to find a complete fish service for 12 from this period. Created in the 'Mayflower' pattern, it consists of a beaded edge handle with a French tip at the top, below which it is
engraved with an 'A.M.S.' monogram. The knives are flat handled, solid silver and the forks are 4-tined with the leftmost tine being wide with a beveled edge and saber tip.
This lovely set is marked 'W. GALE & SON/ 925 STERLING'. The forks and knives measure 7 and 7.75 inches long respectively, have a combined weight of 40.10
troy ounces and are in very good antique condition.
