Georg Jensen 'Pyramid' Pattern Sterling Silver Coffee Set, 1933-44
'Pyramid', designed by Harald Nielsen for Georg Jensen, Denmark, is one of the great modern designs. The degree of artistry in the execution of the graceful curves
of the bodies and handles is striking.
The contrasting flat plains of the tops and covers decorated with a bold sphere complete this amazing design. This ball motif is also incorporated in the
beautiful carved wood handle of the coffee pot and sterling handle of the creamer.
Around the bases of the pieces are deeply fluted, dark oxidized rings. The use of various plains, curves and geometric elements along with a highly reflective
surface are beautifully executed.
This stunning set is marked underneath 'GJ' inside a square which was used 1933-44. It is also marked '925.S/ DENMARK/ STERLING/ DESSIN HN. The 'HN' signifies
this set as being designed by Jensen's chief designer, Harald Nielsen who favored form over decoration. The coffee pot measures 8.5 inches high. The service
weighs a combined 43.85 troy ounces and is in excellent antique condition
