These lovely tongs are an early example of American coin silver flatware. According to the Encyclopedia of American Silver Manufacturers by Rainwater, this mark
was used from 1825-1841. Based on the fiddle pattern, these tongs have shaped sides without any ornamentation and terminate with oval bowls. The tongs are engraved 'SLB' on the flat of the bend.
These lovely coin silver tongs are stamped 'Wm ROGERS' between an eagle and a star. They measures 6.25 inches long, weigh 1.55 troy ounces and are in very
good antique condition with light surface scratches from normal use.
