Sterling Silver Engraved Berry Spoon, c. 1880's, possibly by Towle
This is a stunning serving spoon in an unusual form. Exceptional engraving, including foliage, crescents and a spider descending from its web, decorates the uniquely
shaped handle. A floral and foliate engraved scene decorates the teardrop-shaped bowl.
The overall matte finish makes the surface glisten, heightening the contrast of the engraving on the handle and the lovely gilding to the front and back of the bowl.
The back of this serving spoon is stamped 'STERLING'. Although it does not bear any other marks, we have had similar pieces marked by Towle. This wonderful server
measures 8.25 inches long, weighs 3.0 troy ounces, has never been monogrammed and is in excellent condition.
