These lovely dishes are teardrop shaped with raised sides and fluted edges. Scrolling handles terminate with beautiful feathered designs resembling a peacock tail. Stylish, streamlined feet add an elegant flair to these nut or bon bon dishes. A lovely ‘ALH’ script monogram is engraved on the back of the curved handle of each dish.
These unusual sterling silver dishes are marked underneath ‘TIFFANY & Co/3587 M 5255/ STERLING SILVER’. The ‘M’ mark was used from 1869-91 and according to Tiffany Silver by Charles Carpenter, the 3587 pattern number dates this design to the early 1870’s, the most likely date for these dishes.
They measures 6 long by 2.5 inches high, weigh a combined 7.65 troy ounces, retain their original gilding to the interior and are in very good/ excellent antique condition.
