Joel F. Hewes Sterling Silver Round Dish, Titusville, PA .c 1930
This beautiful example of hand wrought arts & crafts silver is a lovely example of Hewes's work. Raised, curved edges divided into seven parts with short incised indentations
create a dramatic border. The dish has an attached circular foot. Various hammering to the surface make the piece sparkle.
Hewes's work is rarely seen on the market today. He was a member of the society of Arts and Crafts in Boston beginning in 1907 and was elevated to the rank of
'Craftsman' in 1928.
This wonderful plate is marked underneath 'JOEL F. HEWES/ HANDMADE/7/ STERLING'. It measures 6.75 inches round by 1 inch high, weighs 9.80 troy ounces, has
never been engraved and is in very good antique condition with minor surface scratches from use.
